Hurricane Helene tore through the southeastern United States beginning late in the night on September 26. The Category 4 storm produced 140 mph winds and caused extensive damage.
Hundreds of thousands of local residents – from the Florida Panhandle to the Carolinas – evacuated their homes. Widespread flooding is now causing further damage and millions of people are without power.
This storm has been declared by many as “record-breaking.”
