Within the last six months, the United Nations has declared famine in TWO countries. It is the first time the official declaration has been issued since 2020. 

More than 1.9 million people face life-threatening, catastrophic conditions. Millions more are at risk as they face acute food insecurity and hunger.

Currently, famine is sweeping across parts of Sudan. Civil war has intensified, forcing more than 14 million from their homes. Many families have sought refuge in neighboring South Sudan. But they too are facing a severe food crisis. 

Our local staff teams in South Sudan are working hard to help — distributing meals in refugee camps and to orphans, widows and the elderly. Together we can meet their nutrition needs and remind them they are not forgotten.
