In Jorge’s* Cuban community, people do not have a safe, clean water source. Many families also follow a mixture of ancient African and Cuban religious practices — including idol worship.
When local Unto® partner, Pastor Diego, received water filters to distribute to those in need, he used them to serve families and build relationships with them. He went door to door in Jorge’s community, distributing the water filters and teaching families how to use them. He also took time to tell families about Jesus.
When Pastor Diego entered Jorge’s home, he saw idols everywhere, set up in preparation for an upcoming religious festival.
Pastor Diego provided the family with a water filter and showed them how to use it. The family was amazed — having clean water seemed like a miracle!
Pastor Diego then asked if he could share about Jesus. They were surprisingly open to the message. At the end of their conversation, Jorge committed his life to Christ. A few days later, his entire family came to church. There, his family members also responded to the gospel!
Today, they are a faithful part of the local church. Jorge has brought four friends to Jesus too.
