Kham* took off his wrist bands and followed Jesus. These were not just any bands — they were part of his traditional religion. They were the thing he counted on to keep him safe from evil spirits. But now he had found a better way … he had HOPE.
In Kham’s village, clean water was a big problem. People were walking two kilometers (over a mile) six times a day to fetch water for their families.
When the local Unto® team arrived to drill a new clean water well, the villagers were overjoyed! Twenty people came to the well-opening ceremony where the message of Jesus was shared.
Kham responded in faith. At first, he was reluctant to remove the bands he wore for spiritual protection. But with some encouragement, he took them off.
He asked the team to come share the message of hope with his sister. She was sick and suffering. The team came and prayed for her and shared about Jesus. She too came to faith and cut off the bands! The next day, she began to experience a significant recovery!
The gift of humanitarian aid makes such a difference for families like Kham’s. In the closed country where he and his family live, poverty is common. Only one in three people have access to clean drinking water. And 96% of people have never heard about Jesus.
The local staff team is determined to change that as they continue their work to provide humanitarian aid and share hope with those who are unreached.
