Reaching Unreached Communities

Naeku* had never heard of the one true God.  As a member of a Maasai community, she lives in rural Tanzania. Her people are nomadic and worship the god of the mountains.  Previously, women in her area did not have any access to the message of Jesus or health education. Just getting to them takes the local Unto® staff team hours by walking or biking. Women’s health workshops provide a way for staff teams to access unreached people like Naeku’s with the message of help and hope.  Naeku heard about the women’s health workshop that had taken place in a nearby village. So many women were talking about it — amazed by all they learned. Naeku asked the team to come to her village and give the women this lifegiving training.  Through the Women’s Dignity Initiative, Naeku and many others received essential aid and information on physical, emotional, and spiritual health. She heard about Jesus and the God who made the mountains. That day, Naeku made a decision to follow Him.  The local team remained in contact with Naeku. A couple of months later, they visited her village, which was a two-hour walk into the mountains, so she and the other women who came to faith could learn how to tell others about Jesus. While they were there, Naeku insisted that the team visit her husband, one of the village chiefs. After hearing the message of Jesus, he responded in faith. He asked the team to come back again, this time to share the message with the entire village.  During that time, two other village chiefs came to faith in Jesus. Now momentum is taking off and 80 more local chiefs are planning to attend an upcoming ministry event!  *Name changed for security purposes.
