CLEAN WATER
We're Walking for Clean Water
We’re bringing awareness and tangible help to a village in Southeast Asia through our Water Walk
Let’s Walk for Clean Water in Southeast Asia
During Church Beyond The Walls, Hershey Free Church will be partnering with UNTO in the Hershey Free Church Water Walk to raise awareness and funds for the lack of clean water in one Southeast Asian country.
In the remote, rural parts of this country, people travel for miles, sometimes climbing mountains, just to reach a water source. When water dries up during the summertime, many go without potable water, as it is expensive to purchase. Farming chemicals also often contaminate the surface water.
Hershey Free Church is partnering with Unto and local staff to drill a new well that will provide clean water access for over 500 people.
The local staff team, made up of church planters, will work with partnering churches and pastors to leverage the new water well as part of their evangelism and church-planting strategy. The well will either be located near a house church or near a road. Once the well is completed, the church and local staff team will have the opportunity to share the gospel with those who come to collect water. Local house churches will follow up with individuals who receive Christ or are interested in learning more about following Jesus.
As the church is seen caring for the physical needs of its community, it builds trust with its neighbors and even government authorities. This credibility opens doors for gospel conversations and the growth of the local church.
