From the outside, Mike looked like he had it all. He was married with six beautiful children. But on the inside, he was empty.
“My life was in a mess. I had lost hope and felt like I was not going anywhere with my life. I was a drug addict. I would drink all day, and I would not do anything at home. I was in depression,” Mike recalls.
When the local staff team arrived in Mike’s village to repair the community’s broken well, the village headman called the people together. Mike came to the well site and volunteered to assist with the repairs. Then he planned to go home and continue drinking.
After a few hours of work, the community had the joy of seeing clean water flow from the ironce-broken well. Then the local staff team asked everyone to sit down as they shared the message of Jesus.
Mike listened intently and was transformed by what he heard..
“Something deep within me stirred, I felt a spark of hope ignited … Something about this message resonated deeply within me. I repented of my sins and with tears streaming down my face, I prayed to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior,” he shared.
Today, Mike is being discipled by the local pastor. He is free from depression and has left his life of drugs and alcohol behind. He loves to tell people about the woman at the well — and how Jesus changed everything for him too.
